| Older boys from CLM for Pizza Party Night |
Oh my it has been SO cold here the past few days. The problem is that there is NO heat anywhere in Brazil except for Mike and Mary's car! :) We had to put on several hoodies, jackets, pants, etc.....so miserably cold and it was painful to tell you the truth. We have this tiny little electric heater that Mike & Mary equipped us with and we all fight over it!
The internet was down for a whole day and is finally up and running today.
We went into the city (Guarapuava~ about a 20 min drive) Wed night to go to the movie theater. We saw "Prince of Persua"....it was shown in English with Portuguese subtitles. Again we went on the coldest day here and again.....no heat! Whats up with this country?
Thursday night we had the older boys from the orphanage over for a pizza party. We asked Donei if he wanted to have the boys over and he said yes at first and than as he thought about it he was worried the other boys would be mad at him if he didn't invite ALL the older boys. We explained to him that it would be okay to have them all over (8 boys including Donei).........He was surprised I think that it was okay for ALL of them to come over and eat. He said they love pizza so Steve and I went into the colony for a little lunch date :) since we hadn't been by ourselves since arriving then went to the grocery store in the colony (again..NO HEAT! and they leave the doors all open everywhere!!!!)
We bought 8 large frozen pizza's, a bag of Doritos, a bag of Chips and several bottles of pop. This is a BIG treat for the kids at the orphanage. Well these boys wiped EVERYTHING out! They probably would have ate more pizza if we had bought more. It was fun.
Donei came in about an hour before dinner time and said he told all the boys, "Go take shower!" :) and they all did! They came at 6pm and they were all nice and clean.........played around like boys do for awhile with Steve's drum sticks and whatever else the could find to play with and then they ate. We then had brownies for them which again the devoured! Too funny! Then about 45 min after eating dinner, Donei says to them, "okay time to go!" We laughed so hard. We didn't tell him they had to leave but he was just ready for them to leave I guess.
Went into the city yesterday to do some shopping. Wanted Donei to pick something out to give his brother Anderson (Andy) to remember him by. Anderson is around 8 years old and was adopted about 2 years ago here at CLM. Donei didn't know he had a brother until Andy arrived. Donei apparently never showed interest in Andy for the time he was here. I guess Andy is a big handful too....hyper...But when Andy got adopted it was very hard on Donei. Knowing Andy was his only family hit Donei very hard. So when we arrived in Brazil, it was one of the first things Donei told us is that he wanted to see Andy before he left.
Well tonight is the night~ Andy and his mother are suppose to be on their way to visit. They live several hours away I guess. As of right now the plan is that they will be arriving CLM sometime (any time now) and we will all go into the city to eat at the Pizzaria (Donei suggested because he knew Andy liked to eat there). They will spend the night in the city and then come back tomorrow to spend more time with Donei. I'm very emotional about it already. How hard would that be to say goodbye to your brother and never know if you were ever going to see him again. Please pray for their time together and their last hug and goodbye.
I said earlier that we had encouraged Donei to buy something meaningful for Andy that he can always remember him by.....after several stores...Donei just didn't know what to get him......of course he is also a typical boy that doesn't like to shop~! Donei finally decided that he wanted to give Andy his guitar that Donei has had for several years. Steve told him that would be a wonderful present for him to remember Donei by..so Steve and Donei went to the music store and purchased some new strings to get the guitar ready to pass along to Andy. We told Donei how proud we were of him for giving something of value to him that showed how much he loves Andy. Isn't my boy precious?
The beauty of this story is that not even 24 hours before I received a email from a sweet friend who wants to give Donei her Electric guitar that is a special edition and obviously of great value......He will be pumped! Thank you Joyce Cox! I love how God does these special things through others.
Boy I have a lot to say today don't I?????
More to come about the final moments with Andy~
Love to you all
| Leave it to Steph to get in on the action with the boys! They are boys~ The love it!!!! |
